Spirits

A Spirit is an alcoholic beverage, which has an alcohol content of circa 40%; however, alcoholic beverages, which are above 20%, are also classified as Spirits. The alcohol content in Spirits is produced by fermenting grain, fruit or vegetables, which are then distilled in order to concentrate the alcohol.

The most readily available forms of “hard liquors” as they are commonly known are Whisky, which originates from Ireland and Scotland; (Bourbon and Rye are the US versions of Whisky). Brandy, which derives from France. Rum is the national drink of the Caribbean. Vodka hails from Russia. Tequila, which originates in Mexico and Gin which is made in England from the Juniper berry. This alcoholic beverage can be drunk neat, on the rocks or mixed with your favourite fruit juices or other soft drinks. Drink responsibly.
