Imported by Tiger Foods and distilled by Lithuania’s historic Stumbras house, The Nines Botanica is a modern spin on Baltic bitters. Twenty-seven botanicals, anise, coffee beans, orange and lemon peel, vanilla, cinnamon, cloves, raisins and more, steep in grain spirit, then rest in stainless tanks with a dose of Lithuanian honey and brandy before bottling at 35 % ABV. The name “Nines” nods to the brand’s mantra: “Do things to the nines”, perfectly.

Colour is deep copper bordering on ruby. Nose offers orange-cardamom up front, coffee and vanilla underneath. First taste travels from candied citrus to herbal spice; mid-palate raisins and light cocoa appear, finishing with a gentle honeyed warmth uncommon in sharper Nigerian bitters. At 35 %, the spirit is sipping-smooth yet robust enough to anchor cocktails: build a 50:50 mix with prosecco for an elevated Spritz, or sub 30 ml into an Espresso Martini in place of coffee liqueur to add complexity.

Natural colour: Unlike many crimson aperitivi, The Nines relies on saffron, caramelised sugar and botanicals for hue, no E-number dyes. Distillation by-products fuel Stumbras’ biomass boilers, and the Lithuanian plant runs 100 % on certified renewable electricity.

For Nigerian climate, keep bottles below 25 °C; honey’s natural preservative power plus 35 % alcohol keep an opened bottle lively for two years.
