Representing the pinnacle of their aged expressions, this Añejo (meaning “aged”) tequila offers a magnificent balance of cooked agave sweetness, nuanced oak characteristics, and a velvety texture, making it perfect for discerning palates and sophisticated moments.
Patrón Añejo is meticulously crafted from 100% Blue Weber Agave, hand-selected from the finest fields in Jalisco, Mexico. The agaves are slow-baked in traditional brick ovens for 79 hours, allowing for a deep caramelization and extraction of their natural sugars. Following fermentation and precise distillation, the tequila begins its crucial aging journey. It is aged for a minimum of 12 months (one year) in a blend of small white oak barrels—including French oak, Hungarian oak, and used American whiskey barrels. This varied barrel aging contributes to its complex flavor profile and distinct amber hue.
On the nose, Patrón Añejo is wonderfully aromatic and inviting, offering a luxurious bouquet of sweet cooked agave, prominent vanilla, toasted oak, and a medley of dried fruits (raisin, fig). You’ll also find delightful notes of chocolate, caramel, and a delicate blend of baking spices (cinnamon, nutmeg), showcasing its harmonious aging.
The palate delivers an exceptionally smooth and full-bodied experience. The initial sweetness of cooked agave is gracefully intertwined with rich layers of vanilla, butterscotch, and warm baking spices. The influence of the diverse oak barrels is beautifully integrated, providing notes of toasted nuts and a subtle earthiness, adding depth without overpowering the agave. The texture is velvety and luxurious, leading to a long, warm, and remarkably smooth finish that lingers with notes of sweet baked agave, oak, and a hint of pepper. Its intricate balance makes it ideal for sipping neat.
